In addition to its headquarters in Bonn, Germany, the DAAD also operates a global network of 15 regional offices and 55 information centres and a government liaison office in Berlin. Thanks to this network, the DAAD is able to gain expertise for developing suitable programmes and ensuring that funding is put to the best possible use on location.  The Arab World and Germany have enjoyed a decades-long history of collaboration in higher education and research. The DAAD has been facilitating these relationships since the opening of its regional office in Cairo in 1960. New  Information Centers have been established only recently to foster academic cooperation with the universities in the region.  The IC  Tunis opened its doors in 2012 and the IC Amman/Jordan in  2013. The German-Arab Transformation Partnership programmes are overseen by the DAAD at its head office in Bonn.
